TY - JOUR AU - Lennig, Heidi AB - The removal of pressure-sensitive tapes from paper, particularly aged rubber-based adhesives, is optimized with a poultice that consists of a solvent gel prepared with cetyl-hydroxyethylcellulose (PolySurf 67™ CS). The application necessitates interleaving with lens tissue or a TST (polyester) non-woven fabric. The application of the solvent gel allows more economical treatments of paper objects disfigured by aged tape adhesive. The article presents a case study involving the successful removal of a rubber-based discoloured adhesive from architectural drawings on tracing paper belonging to the Hessisches Landesmuseum, Darmstadt.
