TY - JOUR AU - M. A. Tarnopolsky , J. D. MacDougall , and S. A. Atkinson AB - either urea or 3-methylhistide excretion young men (15) An crease prote oxidation durg endurance exercise has been ferred from studies usg a labeled leuce fusion technique (10, 18,24, 28). support of this, an creased urea excretion association with endurance exercise has been observed some (3,9, 18) but not all (29) studies. The recommended nutrient (RNI) for prote for Canadian males between 18 24 yr is 0.82 g* kg-’ day-l of mixed prote the United States the recommended daily allowance is 0.80 g kg-’ &day-’ of mixed prote (7, 23). At the present time no allowance is made these recommended s for dividuals undergog either endurance or resistance trag. The purpose of this study was to exame the effect of consumg habitual altered prote s excess of the RN1 on urea excretion endurance , bodybuilders, sedentary controls. METHODS Subjects. Three groups of six male volunteers gave their formed consent to serve as subjects for this study. Group 1 was composed of sedentary controls (S); group 2 was composed of elite endurance (EA) who had been trag for at least 5 yr as runners or nordic skiers; group 3 was composed of bodybuilders (BB) who had been trag tensively for TI - Influence of protein intake and training status on nitrogen balance and lean body mass JF - Journal of Applied Physiology DA - 1988-01-01 UR - https://www.deepdyve.com/lp/the-american-physiological-society/influence-of-protein-intake-and-training-status-on-nitrogen-balance-Lf040KBbP4 VL - 64 IS - DP - DeepDyve ER -
