Gittits The requirement to study the signal distribution laws (probability densities) at a system output often arises in measurement technique. Such a problem occurs, for example, if the signals being investigated are intended for sub- sequent amplitude analysis when the nature of the change in this law must be known at the channel output. An analytical expression for the distribution law permits not only estimation of the accuracy of the reproduced signal by means of the known channel parameters, but also refinement of the requirement on the structural param- eters of the magnetic recording apparatus. Moreover, an analysis by means of the relationships obtained is needed when especially rigid requirements on at once estimating several accuracy criteria, which are computed from the output signal distribution law, are imposed on the storage units. Signal and interference distribution laws at the output of a "record-reproduce" channel are determined in this paper under the condition of variable velocity of the carrier motion and an input signal with a normal distribution law.
