There is no question that electronic publishing provides new opportunities to enhance the quality of publications. The possibility of including multimedia modules, software, movies, and/or animations with the publications is one of the well-recognized advantages. Extensive navigation and file-search capabilities, as well as the ability to include multiyear products on one CDROM, represent additional advantages. The main issues of control, cost versus quality, and the most appropriate file format (Adobe Acrobat versus HTML, or others) remain unresolved.
