Nu ¨ khet Turgut doi:10.1093/yiel/yvu035 In 2013, the European integration process continued to influence Montenegro’s legislation amendments in the field of environmental protection (the accession negotiations between Montenegro and the European Union (EU) started after the European Council endorsed the decision of the General Affairs Council (26 June 2012). This process is supervised by the Directorate General for Environment, which performs the annual assessment of this process through the project entitled Supporting the Accession Process of Candidate Countries, Progress Monitoring of Montenegro since 2006. In 2013, the following international conventions were ratified: Annex VI of the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships; the International Convention for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants; the Agreement on the Legal Status of the Regional Environmental Center for Central and Eastern Europe; and the Convention on the International Hydrographic Organization.
