TY - JOUR AU - Roy, Archie E. AB - Abstract A model for storing information is constructed on the postulates that (i) traces are left within the model by threshold changes, (ii) these traces are widespread, (iii) the cells in the model have properties statistically determined, and (iv) the stream of information is itself the encoding and decoding device. The model properties are studied and are found to contain many of the basic phenomena associated with learning by living organisms. In particular, this method of storing information exhibits a large storage capacity.
