AB - Picks up a current theme of manpower planning which extends theinterest of the subject into the understanding of labour market processthrough detailed tracing of the historical patterns of particularoccupations. Argues the value of such tracing. Employs the technique ofbiographical age distribution which is contrasted with the conventionalorganizational age distribution. An experiment using a target managementoccupation is used to illustrate this new technique  a method ofcareer and occupational analysis which circumvents difficult problems oflabour mobility.
