AB - A new ultra‐sensitive light detection system is described for the detection of chemiluminescence reactions. The system consists of a CCD camera equipped with a two‐stage image intensifier coupled to an image analysis system with real‐time filtering capabilities. The sensitivity was determined with the enhanced chemiluminescence system using horseradish peroxidase as label. Additional possibilities for further increase in sensitivity and the potential use in immuoassays and other applications are discussed.
