Public Health Service, Staten Island, New York An apparatus for collecting and dispensing sheep blood aseptically has been used at the Veneral Disease Research Laboratory for several years with satis factory results. The assembly as herein described allows the collection, filtration and dispensing of the blood from a single unit, thereby reducing the opportunities for bacterial contamination. Any suitable preservative may be employed with this apparatus. A simple and reliable method for preserving sheep cells with 3.8 per cent so dium citrate solution, for use in complement-fixation procedures, has been pre viously reported. Sheep blood preserved by this method, and collected, dis pensed and stored as described below remained sterile and satisfactory for use for a three-month period. EQUIPMEN T 1.
