Kovalev During the last few years, studies on the synthesis of conjugated antigens -- biologically active compounds covalently bonded to proteins -- have been intensively conducted. These preparations are used for the production of antibodies for biologically active compounds. Such antibodies are capable of neutralizing the pharmacological action of drugs [1-3]. Anti- bodies are also used for the quantitative determination of drugs in organs and tissues by the highly sensitive radioimmune method [4, 5]. Recently the possibility of using proteins for the directed transport of biologically active compounds covalently bonded to them into definite cells has been demonstrated [6-8]. The purpose of this investigation was to develop a method of producing conjugated caffeine--protein antigens, permitting the synthesis of preparations with various caffeine contents, and an immunological characterization of these conjugates. The caffeine molecule does not contain functional groups capable of interacting with proteins under mild conditions. Therefore, we decided to synthesize 8-aminocaffeine, since it is known [9] that the diazonium salt of the latter TI - Synthesis and characteristics of conjugated caffeine-protein antigens JF - Pharmaceutical Chemistry Journal DO - 10.1007/BF01156474 DA - 2005-01-29 UR - https://www.deepdyve.com/lp/springer-journals/synthesis-and-characteristics-of-conjugated-caffeine-protein-antigens-G4YPQaJ4c4 SP - 441 EP - 447 VL - 11 IS - 4 DP - DeepDyve ER -
