TY - JOUR AU - Yoshida, Hisashi AB - Summary We investigated sagittal tomography of the head using the X-ray CT, mainly from the viewpoint of the positioning of the patients, with the aim of improving the applicability of X-ray CT in dentistry. The results were as follows: 1. X-ray CT sagittal tomography of the head was possible with the use of a special table and a device to position the patient. 2. Using CT sagittal tomography in dentistry, the plane which includes the posterior dental arch and which is at an angle of approximately 30° to the median sagittal plane is used as the standard. 3. For practical applications, the equipment should be improved such that it is appropriate for sagittal tomography, and a special table needs to be devised. 4. As coronal tomographic images of which the angle is larger than normal, can be easily obtained with the help of a table, the range of use of CT in dentistry can be enlarged.
