AB - In this study, an attempt was made to manufacture the barrier ribs of PDP by sandblasting the green tape laminated on glass substrate. The effects of processing parameters, which include pre‐baking temperature and time, binder content, and sandblasting angle, on the sandblasting etching rate of the green tape were investigated. The results indicated that the predominant factor affecting the etching rate is the pre‐firing temperature and a optimum shape of the ribs could be realized by combining the processing parameters. The sandblasting angle was found to influence the etching behavior during the sandblasting and the decrease in the angle transformed the etching mechanism from brittle fracture to wearing. The transformation affected the surface roughness of the etched surface by sandblasting significantly
