Merkulov In investigations into the hot pressing of powders, it is usual to employ directly heated graphite dies. In such cases, direct measurement of the powder temperature with a thermocouple is possible only up to the instant of the application of pressure. During the subsequent operation of holding the compact under pressure, which may last some tens of minutes, only an indirect indicator - the temperature of the outer die wall - can be used for assessing and maintaining the temperature of the material being pressed. In this operation, the thermocouple is less suitable for temperature measurement both because it has inertia and because it supplies to the measuring circuit currents generated in it while a heavy current {of up to 2000-3000 A) is passing through the die. Most industrial optical pyrometers require a comparatively large emitting surface. Now a die acting as a heater is generally strengthened by placing it in a metal shell. With a large opening in such a shell, there is a risk of the die rupturing in this weakened TI - A device for automatic die temperature regulation JF - Powder Metallurgy and Metal Ceramics DO - 10.1007/BF00790825 DA - 2004-11-27 UR - https://www.deepdyve.com/lp/springer-journals/a-device-for-automatic-die-temperature-regulation-C2b5UxpFQy SP - 855 EP - 856 VL - 14 IS - 10 DP - DeepDyve ER -
