AB - Abstract We have obtained the component rates for “direct” and “indirect” transfer of an electron in a donor-intermediate unit-acceptor system located in a condensed medium using a formula determined from solving the time-dependent wave equation by the variational method. The time-dependent wave function was specified as a linear combination of ψ functions corresponding to localization of the electron in the component parts of the system.
