Gutnov, V. I. Motov, and O. N. Sokolov Several methods are presently known for measuring the temperature of the lining of metal- lurgical furnaces -- radiation pyrometers, thermocouples, resistance thermometers, and thermo- probes. Pyrometers are located outside the furnace and are viewed by means of a through hole in the lining on the opposite side of the furnace. The main problems with this method are the need for the hole in the lining, insufficient measurement accuracy due to the screening ef- fect of the furnace atmosphere (particularly with oxygen blowing of the bath), and the need: for water- or air-cooling of the lance. Thermocouples are bricked into the lining a certain distance from the inside surface or are installed in a through hole. In this case, the thermoelectrodes extending into the furnace chamber are protected by a cap. Shortcomings of this method are the relatively low reliability of the thermoelectrodes and protective caps and the large measurement error of thermocouples located a considerable distance from the inner surface of the lining and therefore not sensitive TI - Device for measuring the temperature and thickness of steelmaking furnace linings JF - Metallurgist DO - 10.1007/BF01087408 DA - 2005-01-18 UR - https://www.deepdyve.com/lp/springer-journals/device-for-measuring-the-temperature-and-thickness-of-steelmaking-B7FlRARN0O SP - 39 EP - 41 VL - 22 IS - 1 DP - DeepDyve ER -
