Dobuzhinskii UDC 666.646 FINISHING MATERIALS Improvements in the architectural finish of houses and also in internal finishes of buildings require an extension in the range of finishing materials and an improvement in their quality. Among the numerous finishing materials {based on glass, plastics, colored plywood, colored cement, natural stone, silicate concretes) ceramic materials represent the most attractive, long lasting, hygienic, and economical. For many years most attention has been directed at increasIng the volume of ceramic structural materials, while the production of finishing materials has not been given enough attention. This article deals with the contemporary state of the production of finishing materials from ceramics and future problems of extending the range and improving their quality. The main material for internal fInishing is earthenware glazed tile (150 x 150 ram). In our country in 1967 we shall produce more than 14 million m 2 of such tiles. However, it is proposed to produce only 500,000 m 2 of colored tiles. The usual technological production scheme involving firing in tunnel kilns of the open-flame type and vertical setting of the tiles in saggers, hinders mass production of colored tiles, while the TI - Development of ceramic finishing materials and sanitary fittings JF - Glass and Ceramics DO - 10.1007/BF00690277 DA - 2004-11-05 UR - https://www.deepdyve.com/lp/springer-journals/development-of-ceramic-finishing-materials-and-sanitary-fittings-ArW0x5uwB5 SP - 574 EP - 576 VL - 24 IS - 10 DP - DeepDyve ER -
