TY - JOUR AU - Dixit, Achyutesh AB - The photonic crystal (PC) with patterned dielectric rods has been known for decades, with applications in prototype sensors and, more recently, optofluidic sensing. The designed PC sensor has an empty space, loaded with ordered suspended particles (such as Cs2, CCl4, C6H6) surrounded by n-type solid semiconductor material (P2O5-doped silicate) and attached air dielectric rods. Using the plane wave expansion (PWE) approach, the influence of field intensity and doped semiconductor material content on band structure has been explored. The refractive index sensitivity of PC towards various fluids has been measured by generating band gap like effect. The findings of this study can be used to build an opto-electronic device that can be used in medical science and ultra-high signal processing.
