TY - JOUR AB - Previous studies show considerable variation in the blood pressures among rats fed high salt rations for long periods. Selective breeding has produced one strain in which most of the rats develop hypertension when fed a high salt ration, and another group that shows no change in blood pressure when fed the same ration. Another investigation reports the development of a strain of rats that develop hypertension spontaneously without any extra salt intake.
