TY - JOUR AU - WALTER KORPI AB - This paper combines gender and class in an analysis of patterns of inequalities in different types of welfare states. The development of gendered agency inequality with respect to democratic politics, tertiary education, and labor force participation is analyzed in 18 OECD countries. Class inequality is described in terms of disposable household income. The paper develops a new typology of welfare states based on institutional structures of relevance for gender inequality as well as class inequality. The combination of gender and class throws new light on the driving forces behind inequalities and on the role of welfare states in this context. © 2000 Oxford University Press « Previous | Next Article » Table of Contents This Article Soc Pol (2000) 7 (2): 127-191. doi: 10.1093/sp/7.2.127 » Abstract Free Full Text (PDF) Free Classifications Special Forum: Inequality Regimes: Refracting Gender, Race, and Class Services Article metrics Alert me when cited Alert me if corrected Find similar articles Similar articles in Web of Science Add to my archive Download citation Request Permissions Citing Articles Load citing article information Citing articles via CrossRef Citing articles via Scopus Citing articles via Web of Science Citing articles via Google Scholar Google Scholar Articles by KORPI, W.
