AB - A rotary tablet machine has been instrumented to measure the forces operating during the compression cycle. A radio link was used to transmit to a recording unit the effect of pressure on strain gauges attached to the punches. Sodium chloride and aspirin were compressed at various pressures and the results compared, using strength and porosity data, with tablets of the same materials prepared on an eccentric machine.
