TY - JOUR AB - Regional Cerebral Blood Flow rCBF was measured by the 133Xe intraarterial injection method described by H0edt-Rasmussen, Sueinsdotfir & Lassen (1966). After surgical exposure of the neck vessels 133Xedissolved in saline was injected directly into the internal carotid artery above the site of the stenosis. In papers I, I1 and I11 the wash-out of the tracer was recorded by a single scintillation detector ( 1 1 . 5 x 5 mm NaI (Tl) crystal) with a wide collimation, allowing the detector to “see ”the whole hemisphere. With this set-up 133Xe doses from 0.2 to 0.5 mCi were given. In papers IV and VI was used a multichannel system of 14 scintillation detectors with crystals of the same size as above but collimated with brass cylinders of a length of 45 mm with an internal diameter of 12 mm, and a distance between the centers of the detectors of 25 mm. With this apparatus 133Xe doses of 1.5-2.5 mCi were used. For detailed description of the apparatus see Paulson e f al. (1969). With a lower-level discrimination of 20 keV both photopeaks of I33Xe were counted ( 3 1 keV and 81 keV). In a phantom study it was found TI - CHAPTER 2 THE METHODS USED IN THIS STUDY FOR EVALUATION OF THE CEREBRAL HEMODYNAMICS JF - Acta Neurologica Scandinavica DO - 10.1111/j.1600-0404.1973.tb02264.x DA - 1973-04-01 UR - https://www.deepdyve.com/lp/wiley/chapter-2-the-methods-used-in-this-study-for-evaluation-of-the-70se6RmacX SP - 20 VL - 49 IS - S52 DP - DeepDyve ER -
