AB - Technology is becoming more portable, easy to use and helping the human beings in day to day life. Smart wearable devices are widely used in many fields nowadays. Wearables can deliver unique value to users and to others who access the data they collect. Wearable devices are gaining attention in capacities related to processing, sensing, storing and communication. It is the main reason that several publications are available on wearable technology, but still there is no survey manuscript available for camera based wearables. So, this work is focused on the camera based wearable devices and its applications in various areas. In camera based wearable devices, captured images are used as input and user is informed after processing the information. This paper provides classification of camera based wearables, a discussion on architectures, data processing aspects, and market position etc.. Finally, the survey highlights the Challenges, future trends and solutions of camera based wearables.
