On the invitation of the League Secretariat, the representatives of the following international organisations interested in blood transfusion problems, held a meeting for the exchange of information on 27 February, 1956: World Health Organisation (WHO) International Blood Transfusion Society International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) International Commission for Medical Equipment (ICME) International Committee of the Red Cross (I.C.R.C.) League of Red Cross Societies (L.R.C.S.) Colonel Julliard, Secretary-General of the International Blood Transfusion Society, was elected Chairman, and Dr. Hantchef, Director of the League Medico- Social Bureau, Secretary. After examining the various problems on the Agenda, the following recommen­ dations were adopted: Recommendation No. 1 - Standardisation and Interchangeability After noting the development of the work of ISO in connection with trans­ fusion equipment for medical use, the members of the meeting left it to that orga­ nisation to continue this work, which they hoped would rapidly be brought to a conclusion.
