AB - This article describes a folded planar rectangular monopole antenna, which has reasonably low profile and extremely wide impedance bandwidth. A simple formula is also suggested to determine the frequency of the operation of planar structures, in general. Details of the experimental and simulation results for the proposed antenna are examined and analyzed. Impedance characteristics of simple folded and planar configurations of varied dimensions are presented. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
