Twelve previously healthy adults (seven women and five men), 18-20 years old, were diagnosed as having measles, based on a typical clinical picture which included a prodromal period, coryza, Koplik's spots, conjunctivitis, morbiliform rash, and a fourfold increase in HAl antibody titer. Venous blood was drawn into tubes with heparin (10 unit/ml) one to five days (mean, three days) after the beginning of the morbiliform rash (acute phase) and one month later (convalescent phase). Forty adults (20 men and 20 women), 18-22 years old, served as a control population.
