TY - JOUR AU - Kovalev, L. AB - 1. The aromatic hydrocarbons of the petroleum in a petroleum ether solution are adsorbed by type NaX and CaX molecular sieves. 2. The hydrocarbons which are displaced from the molecular sieves by benzene without heating consist mainly of molecules with a cross section greater than the windows of the voids of the molecular sieves and, to a lesser degree, moleculecules with smaller cross sections. The hydrocarbons which are desorbed, after the benzene, by an alcohol-benzene mixture consist of molecules which pass through the windows of the molecular sieves. 3. A quantitative separation is possible with respect to the molecule dimensions by means of the NaX and CaX molecular sieves if the adsorption of the benzene fraction from a petroleum ether solution is repeated.
