TY - JOUR AB - The ship-building plant of the joint-stock company A/O Rauma-Repola in Rauma (Finland) has developed and constructed a bucket-ladder dredge designed especially for excavating hard ground~ for example, moraines. A hydro-transformer connected to the main motor and prestressed plastic transmission belts are a special feature of the bucket mechanism. An automatic mechanism control device permits a continuously variable setting of the bucket elevator speed to the desired magnitude. Its speed remains constant regardless of the load, and in the event of an overload the mechanism adapts quite flexibly and quickly to load changes and to impacts. The remote-controlled devices of the winches and bucket-elevator mechanism are concentrated at the control post located in the deckhouse, from which one man can control all operations related with excavation. The high efficiency of the transmission system also increases the economy of operations. TECHNICAL DATA Maximum length 55.0 m Body length 45.0 m Maximum width 10.4 m Side height 3.5 m Draft 2.4 m Dredging depth with normal bucket elevator 13.5 m / ~ -~ ~.
