TY - JOUR AU1 - Budris, Ken AB - To the Editor: I am the Director of Marketing for Canfield Clinical Systems, a company that provides cameras, software, and other imaging equipment to physicians. I am writing in response to a letter published in the January 2001 issue of Dermatologic Surgery from Robert A. Yoho, MD, of Pasadena, California. The letter was titled “Why Use a Digital Camera?” I would like to point out that I completely agree with Dr. Yoho's conclusion that physicians should be analytical about their purchases. At Canfield Clinical Systems, we strongly encourage our customers to research their options before purchasing an imaging system—especially a digital system. We make every effort to educate medical professionals on how to select an imaging system that best fits their particular needs. We don't believe that anyone should feel pressured into buying a digital imaging system if that is not what he or she needs or wants. Dr. Yoho has clearly had an unpleasant experience with digital imaging. This is unfortunate. The equipment and techniques that he describes in his letter probably yield excellent photographic results and Dr. Yoho does not appear to have had any complaints with film‐based photography.
