AB - Let T be a Riesz operator on a Banach space and let {λn} be an enumeration of the nonzero eigenvalues of T, each repeated according to algebraic multiplicity. Then a sufficient condition that T admit a West decomposition T = C + Q, where C is compact and Q is quasinilpotent, is that ∑n[λn] < ∞. Furthermore, C and Q can be chosen to have a quasinilpotent commutator.
