Research tells us that disabled children are more vul- nerable to all forms of abuse and also less likely to be protected from harm than their non-disabled peers (Cooke, 2000; Sullivan and Knutson, 2000; NSPCC, 2003). This book enables the reader to understand the social context in which the sexual abuse of disabled children occurs and the impact of that abuse upon the individual concerned. The book is based on the stories of seven disabled adults, all of whom were sexually abused in their childhood.
