AB - Three areas of optical component specifications are discussed in detail: (1) purely optical, (2) opto-mechanical, and (3) beauty or scattering specifications. Emphasis is placed on the level of tolerancing as it affects the function of the final optical system. Numerous graphs and tables are used to interpret the functional meaning of the specifications.
