However, there remain obstacles to improving inpatient care of patients with hyperglycemia. As a result, the American College of Endocrinolog y (ACE), the A ACE, and the American Diabetes Association (ADA), along with several co-sponsoring organizations, conducted the “Improving Inpatient Diabetes Care: A Call to Action Conference – Consensus Development Conference” on Januar y 30 and 31, 2006, at the Marriott Metro Center in Washington, DC. The conference was followed by a press event on Februar y 1, 2006, at which the position statement was presented and distrib- uted.
