TY - JOUR AU - Harper, P., B. AB - Abstract The β-lactamase stability of ceftazidime, cefotaxime, cefoperazone, ceftizoxime, cefmetazole, cefsulodin, cefmenoxime, cefotiam and moxalactam has been investigated using 16 cell free β-lactamases and MIC tests. The results confirmed the excellent broad spectrum β-lactamase stability of ceftazidime, moxalactam and cefmetazole. Ceftazidime, closely followed by moxalactam and ceftizoxime, exhibited the best overall intrinsic antibacterial activity of the nine compounds tested against ten commonly encountered bacterial genera.
