AB - In a case of therapy-resistant spasmodic torticollis administration of nitrous oxide (N<sub>2</sub>O) resulted in a dramatic transient amelioration of the dystonic movements. We suggest that manipulations of the opioid system may be useful in the therapy of this condition. Furthermore, our results with N<sub>2</sub>O may provide insight into the pathogenesis of the disease.
