Balcom AB - To the Editor:— In the March 16 issue of The Journal (183-938) there is the statement, "A standard nomenclature for the country would be beneficial," in reference to the 13-page Symposium on Orthetics. I think this statement should apply very well to the entire section, which includes a bunch of words, which I, as a urologist, have never run across before. I am sure that there are a number of doctors who are in the same boat as I and have difficulty understanding what orthetics, orthosis, and orthotist are. It would, therefore, have been very helpful if Dr. Bennett had included a paragraph of definitions. Certainly, my issue of Stedman's Medical Dictionary does not include any definitions which would help in this field, and most of the words are not listed.
