TY - JOUR AU1 - DALE, H. W. LOFTUS AB - BY H. W. LOFTUS DALE THE apparatus described consists of a Connell, or " concertina " reservoir bag, surmounted by a carefully balanced lever, the counterbalance weight of which is held by a lock nut on the threaded end of the lever. This ensures a perfect balance with bags of varying weight and is, so far as I am aware, a unique feature. Underneath are found an angle piece to which tubing can be attached, and a low-resistance inspiratory valve. Photograph (A) Lock nut; (3) Outlet; ( c )inspiratory valve. The apparatus can be mounted on a baseboard, permitting it to rest on a trolley, or on a bar fitted at one end with an adaptor to fit base of apparatus, while at the other is fixed a 1-in. or +-in. hole and wing nut, to fit the upright of a portable cylinder stand. The " concertina " bag may be used either as a resuscitator with air or oxygen, or can be substituted for the usual reservoir bag on any standard machine, when it will be found to be an easier and more efficient means of producing assisted or controlled respiration. It is particularly useful in nursing TI - Combined Reservoir Bag and Resuscitator JF - Anaesthesia DO - 10.1111/j.1365-2044.1951.tb01376.x DA - 1951-07-01 UR - https://www.deepdyve.com/lp/wiley/combined-reservoir-bag-and-resuscitator-2gpU7eS5tW SP - 174 VL - 6 IS - 3 DP - DeepDyve ER -
