TY - JOUR AU1 - Lundstrom, Stephen F. AB - A MIMD architecture suitable for the Flow Model Processor (FMP) of the Numerical Aerodynamic Simulator (NAS) Processin System (NPS) has been described to NASA, a result of extensive studies and evaluations. 1,2 The FMP architecture is targeted to support a throughput in excess of 1000 Mflop/sec over a range of applications. This paper summarizes the architecture and describes the strategies adopted for making this many-processor multiprocessor controllable and efficient. The key language components which allow efficient control of the system by the user, while at the same time supporting straight-forward application definition, will be described.
