TY - JOUR AU1 - Higgins, Ray AU2 - Richardson, Ann AB - Care management is the cornerstone of recent community care reforms. Such an approach emphasizes the importance of user involvement and interagency working. Examines the experience of the Wakefield Case Management Project, which was an early pioneer of such an approach. It was disbanded in 1992 after three years owing to its failure to resettle people with learning disabilities from a longstay hospital. Care management may be illsuited to the complex task of resettlement, unless a number of key issues are addressed at the outset.
