TY - JOUR AU - Sarikaya, Ismet AB - This letter is in regard to a recently published article assessing PET glucose metabolism in 6 weeks old healthy wistar rats after 14 consecutive days of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation. As the one human year almost equals two rat weeks, a six week old rat is a child (3 human year). Due to development of brain during childhood, glucose metabolism shows global and regional differences as compared to adults. This letter recommends that the study should have been conducted in adult rats instead pediatric rats and summarizes issues on analyzing small subcortical regions secondary to spatial resolution of PET scanners and partial volume effect.
