TY - JOUR AU - Rose-Innes, A. C. AB - A Manual of Electroencephalographic Technology: C. D. BINNIE, A. J. ROWAN and T. GUTIER (Cambridge University Press, 1982, 366 pp., £30 hardback, £11.95 paperback) This book sets out a theoretical background to electroencephalography (E.E.G.) and practical information on its technique and use. It is directed at E.E.G. technicians, at clinical neurophysiolo gists and at other doctors and non-medical scientists who use E.E.G. in their routine work and in research. The book succeeds singularly well in its aims. Dr. Binnie's work is of high international repute and he and his co-authors reveal in the text their years of experience actually using the E.E.G. This is particularly true not only in the sections on clinical recording, artefacts and planning an E.E.G. department, but also in those sections devoted to data processing. The book is, as it states, a manual, and there is in it, therefore, much which is of text-book form, some of which is available elsewhere. The book contains, however, original material from the authors' experience and is itself presented in original form. There are some other books of a similar nature. In my opinion this particular book is both more informative and more practical.
