TY - JOUR AB - An Electronic System for the Control of Medication .... Ray Kanoff writes: We are presently completing nine months' experience with a new module medica- tion system. Like all new electrical connected systems, we experienced a couple of break- downs due to electrical circuits. The first one was due to the breakin process of the module and the second one was due to a small problem involving only one circuit. The company sent their technician in to repair the circuits. The pharmacist and nursing service modified their procedure to cover the handling of drugs during the transition with a minimum of confusion and delay. We feel that our drug costs have decreased, although we do not have enough experience to determine exactly how. There is an initial increase in the supply of the medication needed because of the need to fill the initial supply of a one week supply for every patient on the ward. The drugs then level off to a predictable amount each week. The elimination of the medicine cabinet on each ward has eliminated most of the pilferage by the employees. The new automated System requires that each box of medication be accounted for on a charge TI - Introducing a new feature to the Journal —Let's Exchange Notes JF - The Journal of Behavioral Health Services & Research DO - 10.1007/bf02828335 DA - 1974-06-01 UR - https://www.deepdyve.com/lp/springer-journals/introducing-a-new-feature-to-the-journal-let-s-exchange-notes-0fCEh0Wfw4 SP - 42 EP - 44 VL - 3 IS - 1 DP - DeepDyve ER -
