THESE three volumes consist of reports presented in April 1965 at a conference convened in Moscow by the Institute of Science of the USSR and the Institute of Marxism-Leninism in commemoration of the twentieth anniversary of the end of World War II. The conference was divided into three sections, the topic treated in each section becoming then the titk of each of the three volumes. The general nature of the reports published, aside from the political orienta- tion, was not in the direction of what we call historical research.
