AB - The heptafluoropropylations of several substituted thiophenes with bis(heptafluorobutyryl) peroxide were studied. The orientations of the heptafluoropropylation were examined and compared with those of usual electrophilic substitution. The method for the preparation of 3-heptafluoropropylthiophene was also explored.
