SAKR Faculty of Education, Air-Shams University, Heliopolis, Cairo, Egypt Recently the chalcogenide glasses have received considerable interest because of their valuable tech- nological applications [1-3]. The present work aimed to study the structural and optical properties Thin-film form of one of these chalcogenides, Te4sAs30Ge10Si12 in 2 thin-film form. The Te48As30Ge10Si12 composition was prepared Powder form from highly pure (99.999% purity) Te, As, Ge and 8'4 7'6--d8 do 52 24 {6 2'8 2'o 12 Si. The proper amounts of elements for preparing Diffraction angle, 20 (degrees) 10 g of the required composition were weighed using an electrical sensitive balance (type WA-31) of Figure i X-ray diffraction pattern for accuracy 10 -4 g. The weighed matrials were in- troduced into a well-cleaned silica ampoule which was then evacuated to 1.3 mPa and sealed. Synthesis was accomplished in a designed oscillatory furnace. The sample temperature during this process was raised in steps to reduce the vapour pressure of the constituent components.
