J., AB - AMERICAN [Number 3 Volume X XIX] THE AMERICAN THE THE HISTORICAL HISTORICAL THE MEETING OF THE AMERICAN HISTORICAL ASSOCIATION AT COLUMBUS OMPUTED according to one of the two methods commonly employed in such determinations, the geographical centre of the membership of the American Historical Association lies some one hundred and fifty miles northeast of Columbus; computed according to the other method, it lies some one hundred miles to the northwest of that city. It may therefore be remarked, in passing, that in fixing the places where the migratory or alternating meetings of the society shall be held, to meet "in an Eastern city" is to meet in some place to the east of the longitude of Columbus, to meet "in a Western city" is to meet somewhere to the westward of that line.
