Although this new standard is related to the new building mainly, it will set new standards also in the field of renovation of old buildings. Questions on the ap­ plication of the standard will consistently have to be an­ swered in the context of the sociopolitical task of the stock refurbishment. Correspondingly, this magazine covers the change of the sound protection in existing buildings at ordinance of an inside insulation system, fol­ lowed by fundamental and very practical representations for the future sound protection planning of multi­story buildings. The contributions to the multi­layer masonry accord­ ing to EC6 and the arch effect of exterior masonry under wind load similarly aim at presenting knowledge about the standard briefly and compactly and moreover making pro­ posals, how to handle this knowledge. There is a lot to do especially at modelling for the dimensioning of masonry for better illustration of its load­bearing behavior. Our edition no. 3 is a (spanning) fascinating maga­ zine. Implementation meets spirit of the time
