Frankfort1 begründete Einteilung der Zeiten und Stilstufen zwischen dem Ende der Djemdet Nasr- und dem Beginn der Akkad-Zeit ist in jüngster Vergangenheit von Benutzern dieses Systems in unterschiedlicher Weise interpretiert worden. So gibt B. Buchanan in seiner ausgezeichneten Veröffentlichung der Rollsiegelsammlung des Ashmolean Museums zu Oxford folgende, auf H. Frankfort fußende Deutung der ,,Early Dynastien-Stufen: ,,Transitional to Early Dynastie (= Early Dynastie I). Early Dynastie II (= style of Fara impressions). Early Dynastie III (ist phase = lila -- time of Fara tablets). Early Dynastie III (Mature = IIIb -- Ur: Royal Tombs and ist Dynasty). Early Dynastie III (Late -- Proto-imperial or transitional to Akkadian)."2 Diese Gliederung weicht nun hinsichtlich der Stufe EDIII von jener ab, die E.
