Librarians part of the partnership This new program at Harvard brings together librarians, publishers, and researchers to explore joint projects for publication, in microform and electronic formats, of materials from the Harvard libraries. In an effort to make the Harvard University Library collections more accessible, the Preservation Office established the Adler Program for Cooperative Library Publishing. Endowed in 1989 by James B. Adler, from the Harvard Class of 1953, and his wife, Es thy Adler of Chevy Chase, Maryland, the Adler Program is designed to foster collaborative ventures between the Harvard University Library and commercial and scholarly publishers. Mr. and Mrs. Adler's interest in collaborative approaches for preservation and publishing stems from their experience as cofounders of Congressional Information Service, Inc. (CIS), which collects, indexes, and reproduces on microform government documents and other research materials. Mr. Adler also was chairman of Greenwood Press, a scholarly publishing company. After the sale of CIS and Greenwood, the Adlers founded the book publishing house of Adler & Adler Publishers, Inc. The Adler Program
