Die Fettsäuregemische dieses sauren Glycerinphospholipids zeichnen sich durch einen ganz außergewöhnlich hohen Anteil von Polyensäuren (58-82% der Gesamtfettsäuren) aus, deren Haüptkomponente Docosahexaensäure ist.
