Methods for Designing Very High Partitions

Methods for Designing Very High Partitions The large number of buildings in which partitions of ever-increasing heights are used encounter a practical difficulty due to the limited size of the furnaces in which fire resistance tests can be carried out. In these conditions, it becomes essential to come up with solutions allowing for fire resistance to be evaluated, in order to overcome this problem. This article presents a design method based on a combination of experimental tests and calculations which allow this evaluation to be carried out. At the present time there is a large number of digital simulation models, but it is essential to define criteria of acceptability that are capable of being checked by testing, which may provide reliable evaluation of the fire response of high partition walls. http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Journal of Structural Fire Engineering Emerald Publishing

Abstract

The large number of buildings in which partitions of ever-increasing heights are used encounter a practical difficulty due to the limited size of the furnaces in which fire resistance tests can be carried out.
